The pathway that most international Nursing students in Australia tend to take is to first undertake the Diploma of Nursing and then the Bachelor of Nursing. Why? Because after completing the Diploma of Nursing you can start working as a Nurse and you can start the Bachelor of Nursing directly from the 2nd year. The benefit of this is that you can start your Bachelor’s degree while working as a Nurse and it is also a more affordable alternative. The Diploma is usually cheaper than 1 year of the Bachelor of Nursing and one can do the Diploma of Nursing and then start the Bachelor of Nursing directly in the 2nd year of the Diploma.

For many, it is important after the Diploma to pursue the Bachelor of Nursing, since graduating from the Bachelor allows you to access a Temporary Graduate Visa and gives you more immigration opportunities towards long-term residence in the country. Can you apply for scholarships?
It depends on what type of institution.
