It’s official! Following the announcement earlier this year, the Department of Home Affairs officially published on July 1, 2023, the list of eligible qualifications and occupations!

Now, what is it all about? Here are all the details!

The list of eligible qualifications and occupations is a list of those Degrees and professions currently in demand in Australia. They are selected through a mapping process conducted by Jobs and Skills Australia and the Department of Education.

On February 22, 2023 the Department of Home Affairs had announced that as of July 1, 2023, those who have studied a Degree that is in the list of qualifications and eligible occupationsIn addition to the Temporary Graduate Visa 485 Post-Study Work Stream, they will be eligible for an extra 2 years of Temporary Graduate Visa 485 Post-Study Work Stream. A few days ago this list was officially published and has a wide variety of Degrees that have access to this benefit! This is excellent news for students and graduates looking for new job opportunities in Australia.

Your international merit recognized!

The Australian Government has extended post-study work rights for students and professionals who have graduated from educational institutions in Australia, adding two additional years to the Temporary Graduate Visa 485 Post Study Work Stream – Link which is a type of visa under the Temporary Graduate Visa 485 that allows international students who have completed at least two years of study in Australia and meet the Australian Study Requirement to work full time. Australian Study Requirement .

This type of visa is for those studying in Australia for a Bachelor Degree, Masters Degree, Masters by Research, or PhD. It is not a requirement that what is studied is closely related to a skill in demand in Australia. The duration of the visa will also depend on the course of study: for Bachelor Degree and Masters by Coursework, a 2-year Graduate Visa is granted. For Masters by research, 3 years and, for a PhD, 4 years.

Great news! As of July 1, 2023, it was officially announced that those who have studied for a Degree that is on the list of eligible qualifications and occupations will be eligible for an extra 2 years of Temporary Graduate Visa 485 Post Study Work Stream!

As we shared, with the implementation of the new official statement the current configuration will be extended by two years. This will extend post-study work rights to:

• 2 to 4 years for selected Bachelor Degrees.
• 3 to 5 years for selected Master Degrees.
• 4 to 6 years for all PhD studies.

How can I access the list?

Within the list of eligible qualifications and occupations there are a large number of eligible qualifications and occupations belonging to the sectors of Health, Agriculture, Construction, Engineering, Marine Sciences, Veterinary, among others.

Model of 8 years of experience in Australia

However, following the new measure announced by the Australian Government as of July 1, 2023within the List of occupations and qualifications eligible for post-study work rights A large number of qualifications in the Information Technology sector are included in this list.. Among them, the Bachelor of Information Technology. Giving the student the possibility of adding 2 more years to their experience. That is, with an annual investment of approximately 34,500 AUD (which with Scholarships can be reduced even more) during the three years of the Bachelor Degree, you will be able to undertake an 8-year experience in Australia, having the possibility of working full-time developing in your professional field. In addition, having studied a Bachelor’s degree in a category 2 Regional Area such as Gold Coast, will give you the possibility to score points towards Permanent Residency!
